Mother or Not, Tell a Woman in Your Life She Is Loved

There's a woman in your life. She's the one behind the scenes. Mom or not, she needs to know she matters.

In these befuddling days, this woman is trying hard to hold it together. She is probably taxed beyond all measure, deeply lonely, or hoping to escape the distance she feels from herself.

She may be caring for children 24/7. She may be quarantining herself off from her family to nurse sick people in her community. She may be shopping other people's groceries to provide for her family. She may be suffering silently with chronic pain. She may be trying to buoy an elderly parent's spirit from behind a glass window. She may not have spoken with another adult in weeks.

Tell her.

Tell her you see her.

Speak words.

Be specific.

What do you appreciate about her?

What do you love about her character?

How does she inspire you?

Text it. Phone it. Ring her doorbell and say it out loud.

Right now, more than ever, this woman is doubting herself and her strength. Her resolve and her heart need vulnerable, communable strength. A gentle word could lift her out of the pit.

Tell her you see her heart. Her inner beauty. Her sacrifice. Her service.

Ask her what she needs right now. Even if you can't provide exactly what she needs, she will feel your present-ness, which is the greatest kindness we can give to one another.

See her. Tell her. She is so loved.
